Wisdom
“Happy is the man who becomes wise, who comes to have understanding. There is more profit in it than there is in silver; it is worth more to you than gold. Wisdom is more valuable than jewels; nothing you could want can compare with it. Wisdom offers you long life, as well as wealth and honor. Wisdom can make your life pleasant and lead you safely through it. Those who become wise are happy; wisdom will give them life.” (Proverbs 3: 13-18)
The most important thing anyone can do in their lifetime is to insure where they will be spending the next. You cannot do this, however, unless you “get” something first. You cannot come to a realization that Jesus is part of a Triune God, came to earth as a man, died for your sins, rose from the dead, and lives today in heaven (forever interceding for you) until you get wisdom and insight.
Wisdom can only come from God!
“It is the Lord who gives wisdom: from Him comes knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6)
Solomon asked God for wisdom above wealth and riches! Our prayer everyday should be for God’s wisdom to penetrate our minds and guide our thoughts, words, and deeds, above all else.
Anything you learn that doesn’t come from God is considered worldly or head-knowledge. So many church goers today know who Jesus is, know where He lived and what He did on earth, but don’t accept Him as their personal Savior to the point where it changes their lives. Many professing Christians fill the pews each Sunday morning and pray to a God that is unfamiliar to them. They may know who Jesus is, but they don’t know Him personally.
This lack of a God given wisdom (knowing who God is and His will for your life) blinds mankind’s eyes. As a result, this forces man to seek the world system’s path to happiness and eternal bliss. Instead of believing God’s way of salvation, which is through Jesus Christ alone, man attempts to set up his own, futile way.
You cannot be sure of where you will be spending eternity unless you have God’s wisdom. The most important thing you can “get” in this life (wisdom) allows you to “do” the most important thing in this life, which is to insure your eternal destiny in heaven through faith, alone, in Jesus.
Nothing else matters!
