ASSURANCE OF HEAVEN

“I am writing this to you so that you may know (for sure) that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:13)

As Christians, knowing for SURE that we are going to heaven is the most important thing we can do in our lifetimes.   Nothing else matters as life is short and eternity is forever!

The ONLY way to be sure of heaven is to have the righteous of Christ imputed into you through faith, alone, in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.  There are no works or good deeds anyone can do to “earn” a spot in heaven!  Eternal salvation is given by Grace alone as a free gift from God as a result of your faith in Jesus’s atonement on the cross.  Jesus took our sins upon Himself and gave us His righteousness in return!  It’s that easy!  By using the acronym S.U.R.E, you can easily remember the biblical truths that allow you to be SURE of your salvation.  This is much easier to remember and recite than the Romans Road.

S- Sin. We are all sinners, admit it.  Until you recognize this fact, you cannot begin the transformation that leads you to your salvation.

​

U- Understand that sin has both temporal and eternal consequences.  The temporal consequences could result in sickness, incarceration, or even death.  The eternal consequences of sin could dictate an eternity apart from God and filled with unceasing torment.

​

R- Repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.  It’s only a humble spirit that rids itself of pride gets reconciled.  Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart in Jesus and you will be saved.

​

E- Enhance the Kingdom.  Once you establish a personal relationship with Jesus, you will long to use your talents and abilities to help fulfill the “Great Commission” by bringing others to Christ.
